Police up early in bid to stop park 420 cannabis party getting out of hand

Bristol Post

April 21, 2026

POLICE upped patrols around Castle Park yesterday following criticism over their response to last year’s “420” cannabis party.

Nearby residents had complained they had been subjected loud music, threatening behaviour, litter and drug taking, with police doing little to stop thousands gathering in the area for the unlicensed event, which originally started as an international protest against cannabis laws on April 20 each year.

But yesterday police came out on the front foot with officers patrolling the park from early in the morning in a bid to keep a lid on potential festivities.
