Football Striker Riis confident City can last the pace in play-offs race

Emil Riis is adamant Bristol City have what it takes to secure a playoff place this season, with the Robins forward admitting he “wouldn't have joined” if he didn’t believe in Gerhard Struber’s side's credentials, following their win over Swansea City.

The Robins climbed back into the top six at the first time of asking after the November international break as they beat the Swans 3-0 at Ashton Gate on Saturday lunchtime. First-half goals from Rob Dickie and Riis, as well as a late Yu Hirakawa strike proved to be enough to claim all three points and end City’s three-match winless run.

After a difficult spell, both as an individual and a collective in the lead-up to the international break, things couldn’t have gone much better for Riis and his teammates against the Swans. Struber's side were in control for most of the contest and found the moments of quality needed to claim all three points.

“I think we could have scored a few more, but it was a very good result and a good performance, so we'll take that,” Riis told the Bristol Post in his post-match press conference at Ashton Gate.
