Sihasak in Geneva to reaffirm position

Foreign Minister Sihasak Phuangketkeow is in Geneva this week for the 22nd Meeting of States Parties to the Anti-Personnel Mine Ban Convention.

He is presenting evidence and outlining Thailand's stance on Cambodia's alleged new mine-laying and other developments along the Thai-Cambodian border, ministry spokesperson Nikorndej Balankura said.

Mr Nikorndej, who is also directorgeneral of the Department of Information, said Mr Sihasak will reaffirm Thailand's commitment to its treaty obligations and highlight what Thailand says are clear violations by Cambodia.

According to Mr Nikorndej, Thailand has scientific evidence collected through neutral and professional verification, including assessments by Thai agencies and Asean observers.
