Buriram held by Pathum in Shopee Cup thriller
Bangkok Post
|September 26, 2025
Defending champions Buriram United remain winless after they were held to a 2-2 draw by BG Pathum United in the Asean Club Championship (Shopee Cup) at Pathum Thani Stadium on Wednesday night.
Sasalak Haiprakhon gave the visiting Buriram the lead after 20 minutes before Pathum captain Chanathip Songkrasin pulled level three minutes later.
Brazilian striker Guilherme Bissoli fired Buriram ahead again with a penalty 10 minutes before the break but Surachat Sareepim scored in the fourth minute of first-half injury time for the home side.
Serbian midfielder Goran Causic sprinted to the byline before cutting the ball back for Sasalak to strike his shot into the bottom corner in the 20th minute.
Pathum equalised three minutes later when Chanathip’s left-foot shot from the edge of the area took a deflection, wrong-footing goalkeeper Chatchai Bootprom, who fumbled the ball over the line.
