Match for Luis has meaningful goals

Luis Gabriel Guembes Quimper's two former youth football teams, Churt Vipers and Mytchett Athletic Kestrels, played against one another on Tuesday last week.

On January 19, Surrey Police was called to woodland in Stoke Park, Guildford, at 6.10pm to reports of a stabbing at the location. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, 15-year-old Luis was pronounced dead at the scene.

The testimonial match was held at Farnborough FC’s ground in Cherrywood Road in the name of the recently-established Luis Gabriel Memorial Fund, which aims to fight knife crime and honour the 15-year-old’s legacy.

The Churt U16 Vipers played against a reunited Mytchett Athletic U16 Kestrels side, brought back together by Luis' former coaches for the occasion in a game which finished 5-0 to the Vipers.
