Joins hands with GETCO to strengthen power infrastructure; aims for permanent solution to problems of frequent power outages
The Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Limited, (UGVCL) and Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Limited (GETCO) have undertaken a joint initiative to strengthen the power infrastructure to 'put their house in order'. The initiative is also aimed at ensuring continuous power supply to consumers in areas like Shela, Bhopal and Shilaj among others in Ahmedabad. Sources said a discussion was held to provide continuous power supply to consumers living in rapidly developing areas falling under UGVCL jurisdiction.
Apart from Shela, Bhopal and Shilaj other areas that fall under the Sabarmati Circle of UGVCL include South Bopal, Ghuma, Santej, Ognaj, Science City, Tragad in Ahmedabad and Raysan in Gandhinagar. These areas have witnessed rapid real estate development for the past five to six years, resulting in high power consumption.

Turning a mishap into an opportunity Hemingway style
In the late summer of that year we lived in a house in a village that looked across the river and the plain to the mountains. In the bed of the river there were pebbles and boulders, dry and white in the sun, and the water was clear and swiftly moving and blue in the channels. Troops went by the house and down the road and the dust they raised powdered the leaves of the trees.”
