The Quireboys are now The Black Eyed Sons.

"WE'RE STEPPING BACK FROM THE SOAP OPERA"

The Quireboys have changed their name to The Black Eyed Sons, and release a new album, Cowboys In Pinstriped Suits, on January 28 next year via Off Yer Rocka Recordings.

The revised moniker is a nod to a Quireboys album of the same name from 2014.

The move ends a dispute with Spike, the Quireboys' co-founding singer that the longrunning British group controversially sacked in March 2022. In the wake of the fallout, guitarist Guy Griffin stepped up to take on vocals as the band continued as a five-piece.

With Spike claiming ownership of the Quireboys name, and reuniting with bassist Nigel Mogg plus keyboard player Chris Johnstone and drummer Rudy Richman, and also bringing in Thunder guitarist Luke Morley for touring and recording purposes, a war of words ensued. But now Griffin insists his own band - still completed by guitarist Paul Guerin, keyboard player Keith Weir and the rhythm section of bassist Nick Malling and his brother Pip on drums - just want to get on with making music again.
