THE GEN.T LEADERS OF TOMORROW Annette Lee
Tatler Singapore
|July 2023
The social media star shares how she went from singing along to Barney & Friends to becoming an all-round entertainer and content creator
Annette Lee was born to be a performer. Her first stage, at age 3, was a waiting room in the hospital where she was warded overnight for jaundice. It’s a memory Lee says she cannot remember, but her parents recall her staying up late and belting out songs from the children’s television series Barney & Friends for the people around her.
As a teenager, she wanted to become a singer. She started learning how to play the guitar, and covered songs by her favourite musicians, such as Coldplay and Jay Chou. Later, as a Digital Filmmaking undergraduate at the Nanyang Technological University’s School of Art, Design and Media, she wrote and directed her own short films that were screened at both local and overseas film festivals.
