|December 2025
Across forums and festivals, 2025 showcased the ideas, priorities, and provocations that are shaping Singapore's creative landscape.
SIXTY YEARS ISN’T a long time.
At least, not when it comes to nation-building. Still, just before we bid adieu to the 60th year of Singapore’s history, it feels apt to take a moment to look back and think a little about what lies ahead.
The discipline of design, with its all-encompassing nature and potential for transformative impact, serves as a suitable tool for this kind of reflection. Luckily for us, the most interesting currents in Singapore design are often revealed through the city’s major creative events and collaborations across the year.
Sustainability Still King
No matter what industry you work in, the issue of sustainability will inevitably surface. A topic that is as complex as this demands equally large efforts to address.
Whether in products, architecture, or experiences, design efforts have been progressively oriented towards more sustainable processes and solutions. Across forums, exhibitions, and events scattered throughout this year’s design calendar, the question of sustainability has appeared to be ever-pressing and ever-present.
