WOMAN BEHIND THE SKYLINE
Prestige Malaysia
|July 2026
For 14 years, Elizabeth Marini has helped shape the way Kuala Lumpur celebrates, entertains and imagines luxury. Now she is stepping into a more visible chapter of leadership.
The elevator ride to the top of Kuala Lumpur feels like an overture.
Traffic softens into a distant glow, the city flattening into light and geometry before the doors open onto a skyline staged like theatre.
At Marini’s on 57, Marble 8 and Mesa on 51, The Marini’s Group has spent more than a decade turning altitude into aspiration. These are not simply restaurants or bars, but settings for the city’s milestone moments: proposals, reunions, corporate triumphs and New Year's Eve countdowns framed by fireworks. Here, luxury lies not only in what is served, but in the memory each room is designed to hold.
Elizabeth Marini has spent much of the past decade helping to build that memory machine.
As Vice President of The Marini’s Group, she occupies a role that is both highly visible and, for years, curiously obscured by the mythology surrounding the brand.
Her husband, Cavaliere Modesto Marini—the Italian chef, restaurateur and entrepreneur behind the Marini name—has long been the public face of the business. Elizabeth, by contrast, has often operated in the less glamorous but more revealing territory where businesses are actually made: brand strategy, guest experience, internal culture, long-term positioning. She is not the chef. She is not the flamboyant impresario. Her power has been quieter than that. But over time, it has become harder to miss.
To speak with Elizabeth is to realise that The Marini’s Group was never simply conceived as a restaurant company. In her mind, it was always something broader and more ambitious: a lifestyle brand, a curator of mood, a business built not around food alone but around emotional atmosphere.
“Hospitality has never been just about food and beverages,” she says. “People come to our venues for celebrations, milestones, business meetings, romance, friendships and unforgettable nights. We are creating experiences and memories.”
