The wrist-worn timepiece has undergone many evolutions since its invention. Initially designed for the simple yet unmistakably vital function of telling the time, it evolved into an indispensable ally for navigating the oceans, soaring above the clouds, and traversing unfamiliar territories. However, following the ubiquity of smartphones, the wristwatch was relegated to purposes more ornamental than functional. Now, in the guise of the smartwatch and its increasing advancements, it has gradually reclaimed its utility and soon will seize its indispensability if it hasn’t already.

With the progression of smartwatches in the modern day, there’s an air of inevitability for just how dependent we’ll become on them for our well-being. And with how well they’re taking care of us, maybe that’s not such a bad thing. Lack of sleep, for example, is a chronic malady that seems to be the price to pay for the unprecedented productivity we now enjoy (or perhaps suffer from?).
