Treat yourself for less with bargains we’ve rounded up in tech, travel, wine and more.
As prices go up, Americans are feeling down.
Consumer sentiment has steadily dropped, hitting a historic low this spring as disruptions in the fuel supply hiked gasoline prices, according to a University of Michigan survey. More than half of consumers say that rising prices are eroding their personal finances, the survey found.
Even if you're tightening your belt to contend with these headwinds, you may have some room in your budget for the things that make life a little sweeter—and it’s as important as ever to track down the best deals on them. Here, we've found ways to save money on everything from all-inclusive vacations to quality bottles of wine to high-resolution TVs. And if the high cost of gas has you eyeing an electric vehicle, we have thoughts on how to score a solid price on your next car.
TECH
AI data centers—the energy-intensive facilities that support artificial-intelligence services and applications—are putting major demand on computer memory supply, causing a shortage in the RAM chips that products such as laptops, gaming systems and even smart TVs use. As a result, prices for these devices have been higher than average lately, says Louis Ramirez, deals editor-in-chief at Tom’s Guide, a consumertech website. For example, Sony recently raised the price of its popular PlayStation 5 gaming consoles by $100 to $150, depending on the model.
Deal seekers should stick to shopping near holidays that typically feature big sales, such as Labor Day, says Ramirez. He also advises checking whether your state has a sales tax holiday during the back-to-school shopping season (often taking place during an August weekend), when you may be able to buy computers and other electronics tax-free.
Below, you'll find recommendations for gadgets that offer good value. Prices are as of late May.
