1 THE SOFA

The standout piece here is the Marenco sofa by Arflex — a design that celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2020. With its rounded form, it brings balance to the space, gently softening the architectural rigour and adding a sense of comfort and fluidity. It's an icon of Italian modular design and anchors the room with its bold, low-slung silhouette and rhythmic geometry. We conducted our own experiment by upholstering it in the Paxton fabric by James Hare, which visually connects the piece with the natural landscape outside the window. The pattern adds a graphic edge that balances the soft material palette of microcement, glass and natural wood. The result is a sofa that blends in and 'plays' with its surroundings, almost mimicking nature itself.
