Next moon mission is a go!

THERE is great excitement after National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) announced that they intend to carry out the first mission to the moon in more than 50 years by February next year.

The aim of the mission, called Artemis II, is not to land on the moon but to fly around it, testing critical systems aboard the Orion spacecraft ahead of a future landing on the lunar surface, and it will take 10 days for the flight to be completed.

Even if the mission is successful, though, it is predicted an actual landing on the moon could still be a few more years away.

THE LUCKY FOUR

The Artemis II crew, a selected team of astronauts, have been training for this flight for two-and-a-half years. VICTOR GLOVER, REID WISEMAN and CHRISTINA KOCH of Nasa and JEREMY HANSEN of the Canadian Space Agency will become the first people to fly around the moon since 1972.
