Luther creator Neil Cross has devised another intelligent, briskly paced, high-stakes thriller in Sky's The Iris Affair, which follows a genius codebreaker as she's pursued across sumptuous Italian locations in a deadly game of hide-and-seek.

The sun-drenched eight-parter begins when maths whizz Iris Nixon (Playing Nice's Niamh Algar) solves a series of complex online puzzles to win a competition set by charming tech entrepreneur Cameron Beck (The White Lotus' Tom Hollander).

However, the competition was actually one long interview for a far larger task, deciphering the password for 'Charlie Big Potatoes', a secret and powerful piece of artificial intelligence with unknown capabilities. Iris accepts the job, but after discovering the technology's dangerous potential, she disappears with the device's activation code, leading Beck to launch a hunt, from the sandy beaches of Sardinia to the streets of Rome, to find her at any cost.
