The first time Dan Smyers heard Shay Mooney sing was in a tent fashioned from thrift-store sheets in the middle of Smyers's Nashville home-where he had no locks or heat-in December 2012. "I recorded a voice memo of him singing and labeled it 'best singer in the world," Smyers, 36, recalls of the humble house party where their band Dan + Shay came to be.
