Serena Williams knows what it takes to be great. With 23 Grand Slams under her belt, the 43-year-old tennis champion has mastered her diet and exercise regimen over the years. So when her coach told her she needed to lose weight, frustration set in. She had just welcomed daughter Olympia with husband Alexis Ohanian in 2017, and losing weight postpartum was a challenge she wasn’t expecting. “I had never taken shortcuts,” she says. “So it was very frustrating to be in a place where I wasn’t able to change that number on the scale or the way my body looked. I tried everything.”

It wasn’t until about six months after her second daughter, Adira, was born in 2023 that Williams decided to turn to a GLP-1 weight-loss drug, which works in the brain to impact satiety. Now, after taking the weight-loss injections for the past year, she says, “I feel really good and healthy.”
