It was every mother's nightmare. "My whole world x I will love you forever x I always choose you baby x you're the most amazing person I know xx me and you forever baby," Brooklyn Peltz Beckham gushed of wife Nicola in a May 24 Instagram post, which sent commenters into a frenzy. "If that was my son saying that, knowing what the post is about, I would be devastated," wrote one, while another slammed him for being "cruel to so publicly denounce your parents." And as one summarized: "Love is meant to conquer, not divide."

The post seemed to confirm the whispers that had been spreading for the past three years: The Beckham family has been "torn apart," the Daily Mail claimed. Brooklyn and his wife were last seen with David, Victoria and their other children — Romeo, 22, Cruz, 20, and Harper, 13 — in December, and skipped family trips and multiple birthday celebrations for both of Brooklyn's parents. As Cruz pointedly posted tributes to their mum and dad and Romeo cryptically wrote about love and respect on Instagram, Brooklyn declared that his wife "feels like home" in a Glamour Germany cover story released on June 2, lending more credence to the rumors that there is an ongoing battle over Brooklyn. “I think a lot of people go through these kinds of growing pains,” a source close to the Beckhams tells In Touch, whether the family is “famous or not.”
