Is it a rite of passage for British actors to star in a crime series?

I think it is a rite of passage! I don’t know why British television sort of has that about it, but it so does. I suppose I just grew up, essentially, with an awful lot of detective drama as a child, and I was a huge fan of Columbo. It never failed to please me.
