Us traces the couple's final hours — and what led their long-troubled son Nick to allegedly kill them

The entertainment industry is reeling after the unthinkable deaths of Rob Reiner and his wife, Michele Singer Reiner. The couple's daughter, Romy, found them stabbed in their L.A. home on Dec. 14, and less than six hours later, their son Nick was arrested. On Dec. 16, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office announced that he was charged with two counts of first-degree murder, which carry a maximum sentence of life without parole or the death penalty. Nick is being held without bail and has retained criminal defense attorney Alan Jackson. “We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time,” a family spokesperson said.

A source tells Us that Rob, 78, and Michele, 68, attended Conan O'Brien's Christmas party with Nick, 32, the night before they were tragically killed, and that their wayward son acted “creepily” toward other guests. “Nick was going up to people asking if they were famous,” the source adds.
