GROWING UP, Brooke Christa Shields was pushed into showbiz early, becoming a model for Ivory Soap when she was just 11 months old.

“I can’t fault my mother for what she did,” Brooke explained to The Daily Telegraph. “We would be dirt poor — still.” But as modeling led to acting and fame, Brooke found herself having to take on the role of parent to mom Teri, who struggled with alcoholism. “I'd spent my life being so worried my mother was going to die. But that probably saved me and kept me on the straight and narrow,” she told Net-A-Porter. Now she’s found happiness as a mother of two and wife to producer Chris Henchy, with whom she'll celebrate her 25th anniversary next year. As she turns 60 on May 31, Brooke feels “like I’m at the beginning of new really exciting stage,” she told CBS Sunday Morning. “[The older you get], the more confident you get. Isn’t it interesting?”
