BW Businessworld caught up with designer AMIT AGGARWAL for a quick chat. Aggarwal is a pioneer in using industrial and recycled materials like polymer strips, metallic cording, and reclaimed plastics to create couture garments that are sculptural and sustainable. His pieces are inspired by nature, biology, and geometry.

"ONE MUST START WITHOUT FEAR AND THE WEIGHT OF OPINIONS"

What does it take to have a successful fashion business?

One must start without fear and the weight of opinions. I feel that the beauty of creating something is not knowing too much about it. For example, social media gives you access to what the world is doing, but according to me, it is a double-edged sword. Knowing too much about what the world is doing can make one doubt one's original ideas and creativity. Also, at times, we have to refrain from taking in too much information and give the brain a rest.

Other than this, I would say one must have their objective clearly defined. And, as a leader, one must be aware of the entire process of creating. Of course, everyone has their core competence, but a leader should know the whole process of how things get done.
