FORD has plenty of problems to deal with just now, with many of its models lacking the showroom appeal that until recently the firm could take for granted.

POSITION 47th Ford Puma Mk1

Brilliant all-rounders such as the Fiesta, Mondeo and Focus are dead, but there is still one combustion-engined car available that we think is very desirable: the Puma. Yet owners have fallen out of love with this compact SUV, because they put it in 47th place out of 50 in our latest Driver Power survey.

Launched in the UK in September 2020 with a 1.0litre EcoBoost petrol engine and a manual gearbox, an auto option and a 197bhp Puma ST were added in 2020; a 168bhp ST auto appeared in March 2023.

Last year the electric Puma Gen-E was launched.

The Puma came 10th in our poll in 2024, but 12 months later it really fell from grace, with owners not impressed by very much at all. With a ranking of 13th, boot capacity is the best score and the only one in the top half of the table, although the exterior styling is only just outside, in 26th place. The built-in satnav is ranked 29th, yet that's it for top-30 spots.
