Nissan turns over a new Leaf as part of 2025 product onslaught

REVEALED UK-built electric cars to lead Japanese brand's range revival

THE long overdue thirdgeneration Leaf will kick off a big year for Nissan, along with an "allnew compact EV" that will revive the Micra badge. Meanwhile, the bestselling Qashqai will benefit from more efficient, e-Power hybrid tech.

Instead of a family hatchback, the new Leaf will be a more athleticlooking coupé-SUV, with its design drawing influence from the brand's Chill-Out Concept from 2021. Nissan's VP of Design for Europe, Matthew Weaver, told Auto Express in 2024 that "[The new Leaf] is going to be a triumph of efficiency and engineering." It will sit on the same AmpR Medium platform that underpins its bigger brother, the Ariya, as well as the Renault Scenic and Megane. We expect it will feature the same 60kWh battery as the Megane, which should allow for around 300 miles of range.
