Dujardin banned for a year after FEI video investigation

The FEI has announced the outcome of its investigation into the Olympian's training video

CHARLOTTE DUJARDIN thanked all who supported her during "one of the darkest and most difficult periods of my life" and announced that she is expecting her second child as her sanction was confirmed.

The FEI announced the conclusion of its investigation into the training video of Charlotte that emerged before the Olympics, on 5 December. Charlotte has been suspended for a year, including the period since July, and fined 10,000 Swiss francs (£8,885).

"I fully respect the verdict issued by the FEI," she said.

"As the federation has recognised, my actions in the video do not reflect who I am and I can only apologise again. I understand the responsibility that comes with my position in the sport, and I will forever aim to do better."

The FEI started its investigation as soon as it received the video, and has had no more complaints or reports about the rider's conduct since.

The FEI cited three charges: abuse of horse, conduct that brings the FEI and/or equestrian sport into disrepute, and breach of the FEI code of conduct on horse welfare.
