The actresses tell why they’re the coolest and most close-knit family in Hollywood
When it comes to mother-daughter relationships, Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson have the one to beat.
These days, the actresses seem closer than ever. They love to laugh together, shop together and even holiday together with their partners Kurt Russell, 68, and Danny Fujikawa, 33. So what’s the secret to their special bond?
With her sunny blonde looks and can-do attitude, many might see Kate, 40, as her 73-year-old mother’s mini-me – but Goldie insists they aren’t carbon copies.
“She’s actually very different from me,” Goldie asserts. “Katie is a powerful girl. I’m not saying that I’m not powerful too, but Katie also has a lot of dramatic abilities. She’s amazing and I’m ecstatic about her success. I’m proud of all my kids.”
Goldie was married twice – to director Gus Trikonis and then Kate’s father, musician Bill Hudson – before falling for actor Kurt, who she has been with for a much-envied 36 years.
The pair adore spending time with their son Wyatt and blended family, which includes Kate, her brother Oliver and Kurt’s son Boston from his marriage to Escape from New York co-star Season Hubley.

Friendly exes
Similarly, Kate has a complicated dating history. The star married The Black Crowes frontman Chris Robinson in 2000, and three years later had a son, Ryder, now 15. After they divorced, Kate moved on to Muse frontman Matt Bellamy. They split in 2014 but remain on good terms and co-parent their son Bingham, eight. Kate, now with Danny, welcomed a daughter, Rani Rose, in October 2018.
