New Google mapping program exposes new corners of KwaZulu-Natal and beyond.
Drive South Africa, a South African travel-tech company, borrowed Google’s Trekker backpack camera in 2016. For 12 months, they visited every national park in South Africa, 17 nature reserves and many remote wilderness areas and cultural sites. They recruited hundreds of nature-loving volunteers along the way, all of whom mapped their neck of the woods by carrying the Google Trekker backpack camera.
