LINCOLN 14-17 OCTOBER
Olympic omnium champion Matt Walls will line up for the National Championship road race in Lincoln on Sunday fresh from winning the Giro del Piemonte one-day race in Italy last week. Leading in the bunch at the head of quality competition including Giacomo Nizzolo (Qhubeka-NextHash) and Matteo Trentin (UAE-Team Emirates), it was the 23-year-old Oldham rider’s second career win on the road – his first coming at the Tour of Norway in July.
He said: “I was able to hang on to some good rear wheels to get through the corners well and then ended up in a good position for the sprint. This win really boosts my confidence and shows that I can get results not only on the track, but also on the road.”
