Nimai-Nitai Divine Love Saga!
Akhand Gyan - English|March 2021
In the materialistic world, the kind of love weIcome across happens to be inflicted with the adulterants of selfishness, shallowness, lust, attachment, etc. However, there is another definition of love that goes beyond materialism and reaches till eternity. Well, that's the world of Divine Love. Let's realise the true definition of love cum ecstasy, which has been experienced by the devotees who were fortunate to seek refuge of the True Spiritual Master of their times…

The saga of this divine love is of the Master and a disciple whose names still reverberate in the hearts of all those longing for such divine love. This is the tale of love where when the Master sees a dream, the disciple gears up with full spirits to accomplish that dream. This is a story of love in which the disciple wishes to bring glory for his Master (although the Master's glory is like the Sun and the efforts of a disciple are like a small lamp) and the Master in return bestows immense grace on his disciple, after which, it is the history which sings the praise of the disciple. Such is the saga of divine love of Nimai and Nitai, popularly known as Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and Nityananda, which imbibes in it all the colours of love– divine attraction, divine vision, divine sacrifice, divine care, and divine selfless service.

Let us first take you to the place where Shri Nimai is sitting in divine thoughts of Lord Krishna. But the outer appearance of Nimai might make you perplexed. This is because the love of Master Nimai for Lord Krishna was so much that he used to forget himself completely. And this divinity appeared to be madness to the people who didn't have the Third Eye– gateway to the direct perception of God.

The same happened with Nitai when he first met Shri Nimai. However, as soon as he exchanged glances with Nimai, the scenario got changed. Now, each and every atom of Nitai got exhilarated. He was stand-still. Eventually, the divinity of Nimai made Nitai realise that his soul has got its goal. In the silence of that divine audience, the doubts related to the outer appearance of the Master got faded. This first meeting, a divine attraction, marked the commencement of the journey of true Bhakti for Nitai.

Now Nitai would regularly visit Nimai and listen to the glories of Lord Krishna. Along with listening, the experience of sitting in the Master's tutelage would further take him deeper into the path of spirituality.

It was the day of Vyas Puja…

Nimai revelled in ecstasy. The love of Nimai for Lord Krishna showered bliss everywhere. In this bliss, Nimai kept his hand on Nitai's head and with that Nitai was drawn into the inner world of godly experiences. He saw Lord Krishna standing in front of him. Now Nityananda would sit in meditation for hours. He would go to people to spread the message of God singing, 'O People! See and sing the glory of the Lord.'

Day and night Nitai looked for the means by which he could make people understand that the love of God is incomparable with the so-called worldly love.

What is Brahman?

The Taittiriya Upanishad includes an insightful Tdialogue between Bhrigu, the inquisitive student, and his father, Varuna, the enlightened teacher. Bhrigu approaches his father Varuna with a sincere urge to know about Brahman and requests him to teach Brahmavidya. Varuna replies, “Food, the vital breath, the mind, the intellect...– That from which all are born, That by which all sustain, and, That into which all finally merge– seek to know That. That is Brahman.”
