Nature's mind is like an ocean of concepts and inspirations. Seek inspirations and learning from her super scholarly mind but do not destroy her; rather nourish her with your love and care so that she happily unfolds her vast range of secrets.

Mother Nature encompasses many Msecrets that are being explored and looked upon as sources of inspiration by scientists, engineers, doctors, mathematicians, and inventors. Since ages, Nature has given solutions to many problems. All that is required from the human side is true observance towards Nature, so as to figure out practical and effective methods and mechanisms which can make his life easy and smooth! The need of the hour is that instead of investing time and resources to reinvent the wheel, we should rather observe and decode the ways in which the natural world around us has already solved the issues we are facing today!

In this regard, there are indeed various examples wherein Nature gave the ultimate clue to the intellectual minds, and thus came in our hands a wonderful solution! Let's put some of them here so that we are also inspired to extract new concepts from Nature's mind.

To get the first glimpse of Nature's mind magic, reflect on the images below:

Aren't the two images on the left and the corresponding pictures on the right giving you a hint as to from where the advanced locomotives of today's world derive the inspiration? Certainly, they are!

The first row (fig. 1 and 2) clearly demonstrates that the Shinkansen Bullet Train of Japan draws its inspiration from the Kingfisher bird. As a matter of fact, a major problem was faced by Shinkansen Lines, operated by Japan Railway West, when they were functioning on making faster trains. The problem was– 'The trains had to run through dense neighbourhood zones and tunnels. And the emergence of the train from tunnels to the line needed intense dynamic force. This, in turn, created noisy sonic beams that caused an irritating loud sound to the residents staying 400 meters away from the line.'

At that time, Eiji Nakatsu, an engineer, was the General Manager of the technical development department of the designing and making of bullet trains in Japan. In 1990, he attended a lecture on birds by an aviation engineer. On listening to the lecture and from his bird-watching experiences and interests, he realised that the flight of the birds could help in coping up with the sonic beam problem. Eureka, he got the solution when he remembered how the kingfisher bird dives into water. He noted that the bird dived with high speed from air into water (which is nearly 800 times denser than air) with hardly any splash! He recalled the shape of the bird and proposed a similar design for the new bullet train. When the Japan Railway West team reviewed the proposal of the kingfisher streamlined shape, which was further investigated by the art of modelling at the University of Kyushu, they found the shape optimal to solve the problem.
