Journey to the Temple Inside...
Akhand Gyan - English|April 2020
Once upon a time, there was a great saint and scholar, Nathamuni in the southern parts of India.
Journey to the Temple Inside...

With the divine grace, his son Ishvaramuni was blessed with a baby boy. The family named the boy as Yamuna, so that his name always reminisce them of their blissful experiences that occurred during their recent pilgrimage to Vrindavana. However, their moments of happiness were short-lived as Nathamuni and his family soon had to face the death of Ishvaramuni. The agony of unexpected death of his son made Nathamuni give up all his materialistic pleasures and choose a monastic life; whereas, the remaining family i.e. Yamuna, his mother and grandmother led a life of severe destitution. At the age of 5, Yamuna was sent to Bhasyacharya's gurukul for education and training as a part of the ancient education customs. It did not take long for the Acharya to discover the extraordinary brilliance and inquisitiveness of young Yamuna in the field of Vedic scriptures and logical reasoning. This soon made Yamuna the apple of Acharya's eye.

During that period, the kingdom was under the control of Pandya dynasty. Among the eminent ministers in the court of Pandya king, there was also a proud scholar, titled as Akki Alwan. He was known for his unmatched literary debating skills. Impressed by his laudable artistry, the king had even approved of a law of levying yearly taxes on everyone who was defeated at any time by Akki Alwan in the contest. The law was stringent to the extent that even a death sentence could be granted to the one who was unable to pay the taxes timely. Unfortunately, Bhasyacharya also fell victim to this bigoted jurisdiction.
