RISING STAR ULAD SUHORUCHKO 25-YEAR-OLD UKRAINIAN BEAST!
Muscular Development|November 2021
In the USA, we tend to see a large portion of pro bodybuilders who were standout football players and wrestlers in their younger years.

ANOTHER FORMER SOCCER PLAYER GETS HUGE

In Europe, soccer is the most popular sport. OG mass monster Markus Rühl was an excellent footballer (the USA is the only place that sport is referred to as “soccer"), and UK star Nathan De asha played semipro soccer for 10 years for the Liverpool Football Club before transitioning to bodybuilding. Vlad's story growing up in Ukraine isn't so different. “I played football from age 10 to 16, and it was my biggest dream to play in the Premier League." Not only is soccer wildly popular, but the money ain't bad either. Its athletes are the fourth-highest earners in professional sports after the NBA, MLB, and NFL, and ahead of ice hockey, golf, tennis, auto racing, and boxing. Nathan De asha had his start in the weight room as a soccer player, and so did Suhoruchko. “The coach told all of us on my team that we should devote more time to strength training," he says. At first, they only hit the weights once a week. That's when the iron bug began to bite Vlad. “I was so excited about training, and I liked it so much that I asked my coach for more training days." One workout a week turned to two, then three, and like anyone with elite genetics, the results began to manifest. “Everyone from the team started noticing the changes in my body, and that just made me more motivated than ever," he says.

RAMON DINO: BRAZILIAN CLASSIC PHYSIQUE SUPERSTAR

I often comment that the Classic Physique division blesses us with astonishing new talent every year. Until a few weeks out from the 2021 Olympia, I had never even heard of Ramon Rocha Queiroz from Brazil, who qualified shortly before that in his pro debut in Alicante, Spain.

CHRIS BUMSTEAD THE UNDISPUTED KING OF CLASSIC PHYSIQUE!

THE MOST DOMINANT MAN ON THE 2022 OLYMPIA STAGE There were some fierce battles onstage at the last Olympia among the various men's divisions. In Men's Physique, three-time Olympia champ Brandon Hendrickson squared off against eventual winner Erin Banks. The 212 division saw two former O champs, Kamal Elgargni and Shaun Clarida, face a vastly improved Angel Calderon Frias from Spain, with Clarida recapturing his title. And in the Mr. Olympia, it went down to the wire between Derek Lunsford and Hadi Choopan, with The Persian Wolf walking away with the Sandow trophy. But with all due respect to the incredible newcomers Ramon \"Dino\" Queiroz from Brazil and Germany's Urs \"The Miracle Bear\" Kalecinski, 27-year-old Chris Bumstead won his fourth Classic Physique Olympia title the minute he stepped onstage. Many had felt his condition had slipped a notch from his win in 2020 to 2021, but at a little over 6-foot-1 and 240 pounds, C-Bum was shredded, dry and deeply separated to a degree we had never seen before. He oozed a quiet confidence with a smile, and the crowd went bonkers with his every move.
