Most of us have heard of our pelvic floor muscles but may not quite understand their importance until symptoms of weakness set in. Your pelvic floor is a broad sling of muscles, tissues and ligaments between your legs that stretch from your pubic bone in the front to the base of your spine in the back. They support your uterus, bladder, small intestine and rectum.

WHAT DOES THE PELVIC FLOOR DO?

Not unlike a stretchy piece of material, your pelvic floor can bear weight, as with temporary weight gain, and then bounce back again. However, if it carries the weight for a long period, such as during pregnancy, it can become weak and permanently stretched.
