Context was everything for interior designer Greg Natale in creating this American southwest-inspired holiday home in Oklahoma, US. How did you become involved with this project and what was the client’s brief ? The owners of this property are my longstanding clients and they wanted this to be a family home, first and foremost. They are a young Australian family who had bought a country holiday home nearer to some of their US grandparents and cousins. My clients wanted a southwest feel to the house that is typical of the region. This meant Navajo references, and exuding warmth and a rustic feel without being too ‘country’. How does the home respond to the landscape? We opened up the house and added a large outdoor terrace offering a direct connection between indoors and out. Seasonally, the weather changes rapidly from snow to tornados to perfect summer days so we were able to provide the best of all worlds for the young family.
