Volvo launches cleanest SUV in India
autoX
|October 2016
Say hello to the XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid – a more powerful yet cleaner and greener version of Volvo’s flagship SUV.
-
And the reason we are introducing it to you is because it has just gone on sale in India, carrying a price tag of ₹1.25 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi). Like the regular XC90, the plug-in hybrid version will also be brought into the country as a CBU. The Volvo XC90 T8 plug-in hybrid, as the same suggests, is headlined by a hybrid powertrain, which incorporates a turbo- and super-charged 2.0-litre, in-line four-cylinder petrol engine along with a 65kW electric motor. The hybrid system generates a maximum power output of 401bhp and 640Nm of peak-torque. Power transmission duties are carried out by an 8-speed automatic gearbox. However, the manner in which the power is transmitted to the wheels is a bit different.
