ExxonMobil is a leading lubricant supplier and service provider to automobile OEMs across the globe. Auto Tech Review met Imtiaz Ahmed, Brand Manager, Asia Pacific Mobil SHC, ExxonMobil to discuss the recent developments in the lubricant industry for automotive applications.
The Indian lubricant industry has been growing at a CAGR of 18.6 % over the last six years and is one of the fastest growing markets in the world. For FY 2017, the Indian lubricant industry is expected to grow at a CAGR of 11.5 %. The major drivers of this increased spending in India are rising disposable incomes, soaring population of automobile users and increased industrial activities. Given this growing lubricant demand in the country, it has become imperative for lube makers to reinvent and bring about innovations in their product portfolios and technologies to meet the varying customer needs. ExxonMobil has been developing monitoring and rectification processes for its customers to reduce time and improve performance.
MOBIL SERV LUBRICANT ANALYSIS
Engine management is a complicated task and requires multiple applications to be run simultaneously. In addition to using high quality synthetic lubricants, operators are recommended to incorporate an oil and equipment condition monitoring programme to maximise productivity of machinery and trim costs. ExxonMobil has initiated MSLA, which enables companies to conduct virtually the entire process on their mobile or tablet device through scan-and-go oil sampling bottles. It provides informative reports on the condition of your equipment and lubricant.

Good lighting makes a major contribution to road safety. In 2011, the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) presented an evaluation system for headlamps that can objectively assess the quality of illumination and glare limitation. New light sources like LEDs and lighting functions (glare-free high beam, partial high beam) have been available for several years, so that an extension of the proven CIE method is necessary, which takes into account, among other things, changed switch-on and service lives of new lighting functions and represents a generally understandable evaluation system. An evaluation system presented in the following by the Technische Uni versität Darmstadt, which was developed by an encompassing expert commission, is intended to provide representative data and enable an objective evaluation of headlamp performance.
