SOUL OF A RADICAL
-
A DECADE AGO, I WAS AT A BENEFIT SHOW AT THE Lab in San Francisco, fundraising for a college trip abroad led by artist Lena Wolff, whose wife, Miriam Klein Stahl, had donated some prints. As Miriam rolled up to the event, people whispered, a little starstruck, because she was already an influence. Since then, she’s illustrated the sensational and important Rad Women books, founded a revolutionary high school art program, started a queer skate company, and has been raising a daughter who’s already skating, naturally. Miriam’s contributions to the San Francisco art scene and beyond are rooted in DIY culture and inclusivity, and she carries the legacy forward to the next generation.
Kristin Farr: What kind of new audiences did the Rad Women books help you reach?
