This was the first large commission that came to the firm by way of design competition on setting practice. Delhi Public School was possibly the most respected school education brand at the time in Delhi, and the DPS Society wanted to further reinforce this image by establishing not just a large, but an architecturally appropriate signature, campus.
The school campus is spread over 20 acres and the master planning for the site was done with the construction carried out in several phases as is typical in schools. The architectural concept, vocabulary and materials all played their part in making a building that is unique and memorable, but not overpowering for the children studying.
The master plan layout gave the school identifiable clusters for admin block, junior, middle and senior schools, while allowing further activities like auditorium and hostels, etc, to come up over several later phases without disrupting the functional clusters.
