Red Hat teams up with Axiom Space to enhance space infrastructure

Red Hat, Inc., and Axiom Space, a pioneer in in-space infrastructure, have announced a collaboration on the latter’s Data Center Unit-1 (AxDCU-1), set to launch to the International Space Station in spring 2025. Powered by Red Hat Device Edge, this data processing prototype will conduct experiments on the space station, showcasing initial capabilities of an Orbital Data Center (ODC).

The prototype will test applications in cloud computing, artificial intelligence and machine learning (AI/ML), data fusion, and space cybersecurity, marking a significant step in Axiom Space’s mission to develop transformative space infrastructure.
