Rotation risks loom for Downs ahead of continental showdown

MAMELODI Sundowns head to Rustenburg tonight to face Orbit College in a high-stakes Betway Premiership clash. With a massive CAF Champions League quarter-final on Friday, can Miguel Cardoso or his men keep their focus on the league title race? | Backpagepix

The fixture arrives at a demanding point in Sundowns' schedule, with the Brazilians juggling their domestic title ambitions while preparing for a crucial continental assignment later in the week.

Miguel Cardoso’ side will host Stade Malien in the quarterfinal first leg of the CAF Champions League on Friday, leaving the Pretoria giants with only a few days to switch focus between competitions. Despite that looming continental test, Sundowns cannot afford to take their foot off the pedal in the league.

The defending champions are locked in a tight title race with Orlando Pirates, with the two sides separated only by goal difference at the summit of the table with 11 matches remaining.
