'Unforseen' issues delay end of works
HIGHWAYS officials say a main North Staffordshire road will need to close for three works to allow further repairs to take place.
And crews will be on the A520 through Wetley Rocks six-days a week as efforts to keep the project on track are ramped up.
Staffordshire County Council has encountered ‘additional issues’ in the area after starting out on June 30. On announcing the £1.4 million project to overhaul damaged drains, kerbs and ironworks, leaders had hoped it would be wrapped up by the end of August.
Now the local authority has warned there needs to be ‘additional road reconstruction work’. That means the route will need to be shut off for three weeks.
