Council in calls for five major areas of change at schools

Reform also wants MPs to help all kids ‘reach potential’

COUNCILLORS are calling for urgent reforms to help children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Janet Higgins, Cabinet Member for Education, has written to the Secretary of State for Education Bridget Phillipson MP outlining five key areas of change as pupils return at the start of the new school year.

She says the urgent reforms are needed to ensure all children in Staffordshire receive the support they need to thrive and reach their full potential.

she has also written to all Staffordshire MPs to back the letter and help put pressure on the government to reform the system.

Of 11 MPs, only one, Sir Gavin Williamson MP, has so far agreed to cosign the letter.
