£175 pothole claim rejected after 23 months of waiting

A MOTORIST has criticised a council after her pothole damage claim was rejected - following a wait of almost two years.

Katie McMullen says Staffordshire County Council's decision not to compensate her is 'unfair'.

The 30-year-old had been driving her new Ford Fiesta ST in Silverdale High Street in August 2023 when she says she clipped a pothole. She says the pothole left her needing a £175 replacement tyre.

Katie, of Cross Heath, said: "It completely bust my tyre. I thought it was a cut-and-dry case. But I had to go through so much paperwork with the council. They wanted me to draw pictures of what had happened and complete a massive form. Then it got bumped over to their legal representatives, who wanted to know everything about my car.
