PRISCILLA MEIRELLES: 'EXERCISE HELPED ME FIGHT DEPRESSION AND BOOST MY OVERALL WELL-BEING'

THE PHILIPPINE STAR: You've chronicled your fitness journey on social media. How has it impacted your overall well-being?

PRISCILLA MEIRELLES: I believe it is our responsibility to inspire others positively. Many people look up to me, facing the same challenges I do, feeling helpless or ready to give up. My intention is to inspire them, reassuring them they are not alone and if I can overcome, so can they. This is both a social responsibility and a personal calling. To live to inspire is to live a fulfilling life. Exercising has been such a game-changer for me when it comes to fighting off those feelings of depression and boosting my overall well-being, both physically and mentally. I like to call the gym my “therapist.”

Whenever life gets tough — whether it’s dealing with difficult people, frustrating timing, or just plain bad luck — I know I can count on that workout to lift my spirits. I hit the gym and embrace the feelgood hormones that my body releases through every workout. That’s how I bounce back and keep getting stronger. Recently, I’ve added running marathons to my routine, and I couldn't be more excited about it! It pushes me not just physically, but mentally.

For me, well-being is all about discovering that perfect place where my heart feels at ease. In the past, I often let situations and other people guide my journey. But recently, I’ve been focusing more on what truly makes me happy!

What is “Priscilla’s Diet” or “Earth’s Diet”?

The age of performance: Tote bag politicians

A curious, almost playful trend has been making its way through Gen Z: the rise of the performative man. (So ubiquitous, in fact, that it even inspired a satirical contest in New York.) Yesterday, while out with my 17-year-old son and his friend at an obscure café in Makati, I couldn't help but notice how quickly the archetype revealed itself. Call it the curse of being a chronically online millennial, | knew the moment those two sharp-tongued teens spotted the crowd, they'd have something to say.
