Talks under way for Sven contract deal

Newcastle's hierarchy are looking to pin down defender Sven Botman and get a contract extension signed

(JAVIER GARCIA/SHUTTERSTOCK)

We reported on November 15 that Botman had held heart-to-heart talks with Eddie Howe earlier this month, with claims in the Netherlands - via our counterparts at Voetbal International - suggesting that Ross Wilson now has discussions for a new deal for the defender scheduled with his agent.

With Botman having an outside chance of getting a World Cup call-up with Holland, it’s understood that he had held chats with Howe on selection amid welcome stiff competition for spots in the centre-back area.
