A Sunderland shop's application to provide “commercial catering” and run a hot food takeaway has been turned down by council development chiefs due to childhood obesity and noise concerns.

Sunderland City — Council’s planning department rejected proposals for the Premier Store on Eglinton Street in the city’s Southwick ward.
