Only Labour can deliver the change people voted for

IT SEEMS like only yesterday that we were gearing up towards the 2024 general election.

- Liz Twist

This time last year, we didn’t even know when it would take place. And yet here we are, nine months down the line, with millions of voters preparing to go to the polls again to elect candidates to serve in local government.

Local elections are often overlooked in the national press as merely an indicator of where the political winds are blowing. But they're so much more important than that. Local councils are responsible for major decisions affecting our everyday lives - from housing and social care to public health and waste management.

That's why it’s vital that you have your say - to elect a voice for your area that can fight for better services and facilities for all residents.

In Durham, where half of my constituency lies, local councillors are elected on an ‘all-out’ basis. For the last four years, a coalition of Conservatives, Independents and Liberal Democrats have had control of the council. But for the first time since 2021, each and every ward is up for grabs.
