ALUN Armstrong bemoaned Gateshead’s cruel misfortune after they were dealt yet another major injury blow during Saturday’s home draw with Boston United.
‘The Heed boss was dealt a triple blow ahead of the game when top goalscorer Kain Adom and defensive duo Kenton Richardson and Joe Grayson were all ruled out with injuries.
‘That forced Will Flint and Connor Pani into emergency action at the heart of the back four - although the latter lasted just under 40 minutes after he was stretchered off following a coming together with Lennell John-Lewis.
‘Armstrong felt the injury has come at a particularly cruel time for the Gateshead academy product after Pani enjoyed what could be considered as the best week of his senior career.
‘The Heed boss admitted: “I am gutted for the lads, I am really proud of them because there’s a lot of good, young players that are learning with setback after setback.
“We have no fit centre-halves, we tried to bring them in but we had no joy.
