Why didn't they close it down at midnight when it started?

ANGRY RESIDENTS HIT OUT AFTER NIGHT OF SLEEP BADLY DISTURBED BY UNOFFICIAL FREE RAVE IN WOODLAND

- By ANDREW ROBINSON

FOR some it was agony, others pure ecstasy.

First the agony. Mums and dads with little ones were woken in the early hours by the throbbing resonance of pulsating bass music.

They could hear the din in Honley and Upperthong, Meltham and New Mill - some villages up to five miles away. They weren't happy and took to social media to let rip.

Those living closer to the unofficial party, which took place on a track that runs by the Yateholme and Ramsden reservoirs, near Holmfirth, were livid.

One man, who was walking his dog at 10am with the rave still in full effect, told The Examiner: "I am pi**ed off that the police haven't closed it down. Why didn't they close it down at midnight when it started?

"It has been going on all night. We have been woken up several times from 3am by the bassline."

He also wondered about the litter and the lack of toilet facilities. He wanted to know who will clean up the mess and if the police's actions will only encourage a repeat performance, adding: "Will they (the ravers) come back now that they know it will be allowed?"

But for the ravers, they were just happy to be partying. Some were so ecstatic they could barely squeeze out a sentence.
