Injured McGuane 'desperate to be back out performing'

HUDDERSFIELD Town manager Lee Grant says that injured midfielder Marcus McGuane is “desperate to be back out and performing’ following a tough start to his Terriers’ career.

The 26-year-old has featured just once for Town since joining the club in the summer on a three-year deal for an undisclosed fee from Bristol City due to a groin injury, with the midfielder brought on as a second-half substitute in the 3-2 defeat at Blackpool in August.

Providing an update on the midfielder’s recovery at a recent press conference, Grant said: “Still progressing. Marcus has had a little bit of a setback, but we're not back to square one or anything drastic like that.

“He's had a setback in terms of a slight soft tissue injury that will perhaps add a week or a couple of weeks onto where we wanted to be, so some frustration for him personally.

“But in terms of the bigger picture for Marcus McGuane, he is still heading in the right direction and he’s working incredibly hard.

“I know that, because I'm seeing it first hand.
